Gunite — also called shotcrete — is the best construction method for custom pools in North Texas. It's the only material suited to DFW's expansive clay soil, which moves with moisture changes. Gunite allows fully custom shapes and sizes, handles Texas soil movement better than fiberglass, and supports features like vanishing edges and attached spas that fiberglass can't accommodate.

The full process — from first consultation to swimming — typically takes 4–6 months when you include design, permitting, and construction. Construction itself runs 10–16 weeks once permits are approved. Permitting takes 2–6 weeks depending on the city and time of year. The fastest path is starting in fall or winter when permit offices are least backlogged.
